Wedding Plans - Coming Along Nicely!

This weekend my mom and I went full-hilt into wedding planning! Booking things, paying things, discussing things. I want to share a few of these details with ya'll!

The wedding will take place August 16th. The ceremony will be held at a beautiful garden venue. It truly is gorgeous! Here's a peek:

wedding garden

The ceremony will be in the late afternoon (around 3:30) and after the ceremony we will take our pictures at the picturesque gardens while guests can stick around and have wine and cheese if they desire.

After the photos are taken immediate family will make their way to the reception hall for dinner - details on the dinner still to be determined.

After dinner is when the party begins! Here's a picture of the hall as it was decorated for another wedding.

I can't wait to share more details with you as I get closer to my big day! 6 more months!

Night Stand Update! DIY Project

As you can see below the fresh coat of paint on the new nightstand really did them good!

All I nee now is to stencil the top and add a curtain to the front. Then jazz them up a little with accessories for the top.

I NEED trays. Damn cat always finds something to knock about on my nightstand - at least if it's in a tray all she can do it knock it around in the tray.... right? *le sigh*

To be continued..........

A Little Obsessed - Live Love DIY

Hey Ya'll.

Okay - if you know me you know that I live in military housing. Which isn't exactly glamorous. But thanks to the girl I'm about to introduce to you I'm beginning to see things in a brighter light. If you're a fan of my Facebook page you've probably already seen one of her posts.

Ladies and gentleman I present to you Virginia of Live, Love, DIY

OH MY GOD can you say "girl crush"? Seriously; if I could have a best friend whom I know purely via the internet I'm sure this would be her. Our design styles line up fantastically. We both hate spending money on something we know we don't have to, we both have a cat, and I LOVE her sense of humour. Her blog is addicting - informative, inspiring, and entertaining all in one. Everything I hope to be in a blog - already laid out there for ya.

Thanks to Virginia (yep, I'mma use her first name like she's my best friend in the whole world) I have a new-found hope that our boring, military housing with it's LAYERS AND LAYERS of paint can look fantastic.

I won't be putting too much effort into our current PMQ - because we'll only be here about 4 more months (four months!?!?!? SQUEEL!!) but you can be sure that come our next posting I'll be making that place feel as much like home as possible.

I love that Virginia makes things seem super easy (and lays it all out there for you), gives you tips on ways to save time (and money!) with your projects and almost her entire house is DIY and thrift. Hello Virgina, you are my home's fairy godmother.

So, Virginia, I dedicate my upcoming DIY project to you. You've inspired me to make my home what I know it can be - one little thrift store item at a time.

The lovely tables shown above were bought from an online yardsale group today for $10 (for both!). They already have a VERY light coat of paint - but there's no clear coat so I'm pretty sure that paint will work well as a primer. Taking a page from Virginia's book I'm going to paint these a neutral colour - probably a greige with silver undertones. I have to see what I can get from home hardware cuz I don't want to go all the way to the city just to get paint. I'm lazy.

This is what they look like in the bedroom right now.

I also see stencilling in these tables' future. And perhaps a drawer and a little door - but until I have the money and the time to do a drawer and a door I'll be putting curtains on the front so I can use the bottom for storage. Maybe I'll just do curtains and install a second shelf... I'm not sure.

I also picture a mirror above each head board on either side of the bed, painted vases (also an idea from Live Love DIY), a pretty lamp on each side (maybe purple?) - I'm going to extend the "headboard" by two more squares on the end so it's 4x2 instead of 3x2 I think it looks just a little bit too short right now. And eventually maybe a bench for the end of the bed.
